The videos below show how to stake / delegate your ADA.

I will add more to this post over the next few days as this site is filled out with content

How to stake Cardano using the Daedulas Wallet

The Daedulas wallet is the offcial Cardano ADA wallet and it is a desktop wallet. As I wrte this post it doesn’t support hardware wallets but that functionality is coming soon so I will update this post and add a video showing it when it is done.

The video below shows how to use the Daedulus wallet to stake your ADA

The video below goes through all the wallets for holding Cardano and shows how to stake in Daedalus and Yoroi

Hi Paul just came across your site. Good to see a fellow Irish lad in cardona. Is Daedalus a safe option to store Ada or would you recommend ledger?

Have been staking on binance as of late but since the uplift now taking it off an exchange and moving it to a wallet. Be honest now is your stake pool worth a decent stake 😉

Thanks Darragh I’m finding more and more of us every day..

Yes Daedalus is a safe place to store your coins once you keep your seed phrase safe. I am a fan of using a ledger (hardware wallet) whenever possible but if you don’t have one Daedalus is a solid wallet too.

Of course my pool is the best its run by an Irish man 🙂 Been honest over the long run most pools will generate between 5% – 6% APY. Some will be slightly above that and some below. We crossed 4M in stake overnight and growing fast now so I am expecting us to go on a good run of rewards from now on.

Any questions let me know. If your on Telegram our group is growing and there is a decent few Irish people in there too – https://www.cardanowithpaul.com/Telegram

Hey Paul, so I staked my ADA to your pool. I entered three days before epoch 250 finished, I was expecting I’d get rewards but there was none. Was it because I didn’t complete the full epoch? Hope to hear from you.

Thanks for joining. With Cardano staking your first pay-out takes 15 – 20 days and then after that it is every 5 days. I go through the timeline and the reasons here if your interested – https://youtu.be/umiv-YMmnaU

Paul, Question from a Paul2 staker. I did not claim my SUNDAE via the paid intermediary. Are we able to claim direct and without fee now? If so, may be a time to produce a video on how to. I know it is not worth as much not, so not excited about paying for them. Cheers!

Hey Robert, thanks for staking in the pool. No they haven’t built the function yet, seen someone else asking recently and the reply from the team was before the end of the year but haven’t seen anything solid on it. Token price is bleeding constantly and until there is some incentive to hold it I dont think it will stop

    Hi Paul,

Pretty new to the whole staking process. Couldn’t find a better way to message you than on here… So I think I’m delegated to your stake pool on Daedalus, and I think I noticed there was a new block produced in the last day or 2, but I’m not noticing any rewards on my end. Am I missing something? Sorry I am not on Telegram.

Hey Rob, Payouts happen at the end of the epoch which is 5 days. The current epoch 241 will end tonight and rewards from epoch 240 will be paid out to delegators. The rewards then from epoch 241 are paid out at the end of epoch 242. When you start staking first there is an initial wait of 15-20 days to get your first payout and then after that it should be every 5 days, this video explains why – https://youtu.be/umiv-YMmnaU. You can also get me on paul@cardanowithpaul.com if you want any time. Thanks for supporting my pool

Thanks Ilya, my pool has seen a big growth in stake lately which has pushed us to over 6.3M now which is great as that will give us blocks and rewards in every epoch. We should average out between 5% – 6% over the year which is the average for most pools that are producing blocks. Any questions just let me know here or on paul@cardanowithpaul.com

Hi Paul, thank you for the great videos! My Daedalus wallet is syncing the block chain and once that is done I’ll stake with your pool. A couple questions that I have not found the answer too. When your wallet is staked/delegated to a pool can you spend/send your ADA from your wallet? Or is your wallet locked from sending until you remove it from the pool? When happens if your wallet receives ADA while staked/delegated to a pool? How do you stop staked/delegated to a pool? When you claim your rewards who are you claiming from? The pool owner? What if the pool owner goes offline before you claim? Hope that’s not too many questions 🙂

    Reply
    • Paul

      Hey Jason,

Yes you can still move your funds at any point. Any new ADA added will be auto staked to the same pool. To stop you can just move your funds out at any time. You are just claiming themfrom a rewards address in your own wallet. The pool owner never has access to your funds or rewards. Think that all 🙂

Hi, Paul. I have been trying to redelegate from AdaLite Pool 9 to your Stake Pool for a few weeks already without success. I am using Mozilla Browser, Yoroi extension and Ledger Nano S. Everything is up to date but I get a very generic error which doesn’t help. When I should be confirming the transaction, I get “Something unexpected happened. Please retry.” I checked your videos and I didn’t find an answer to this problem. Any idea?

Is it a windows error message? When they pop up if you ignore them and wait for the prompt on your ledger it works. You could install Daedalus on your laptop and connect your ledger there. You can also use the adalite website since you are using a ledger. I show how to do it on the adalite site in this video as I got an error in Yoroi which I also show in this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48MngePqUQo

If you are doing it through adalite and want to use my pool you will need the ID – 86a19d5418cd07294af7d71386cf14a84e0478fbfde5b89fe4d98a58

When I click on DELEGATE button (video https://youtu.be/48MngePqUQo?t=308), I don’t get redirected to emurgo.github.io. Browser tries the redirect but I come back to the same pop-up where I started and the message “Something unexpected happened. Please retry.” is added in red letters. So the error was different than in your video. It looks like it didn’t even contact my Ledger. I tried disabling all add-ons and still not OK. Gave up on Yoroi for staking.

Then I tried with AdaLite and it went smoothly, just like in your video. Thanks for assistance and keep up the good work!

Is there a transaction fee if I am going to delegate/stake my ADA to your pool? If there is, do you have any idea how much it is? and is this a one time fee? or if ever I want to undelegate ada from your pool or any pool is there a transaction fee again for this? Sorry for all my questions and I do appreciate your feedback.. Thank you and more power ,

    • Paul

When you stake you pay a transaction fee (about 0.17 ADA) to sign your stake key and you pay a 2 ADA deposit which is returned when you stop staking. You can move your coins at any time you want and again its just a normal transaction fee

Hey, Paul! I’ve been struggling with something that I’m hoping you can help me with. I want to start staking, but I’m having a problem. So I got the Yoroi wallet that’s connected with my Ledger Nano X. But the thing is, I got it in July, before the Shelley update, and I’ve kept the Byron wallet this whole time. I can’t find any helpful videos on how to upgrade the wallet to the Shelley version while still keeping the Yoroi account connected with the Ledger. How am I supposed to do this?
If anything, am I able to create a new Cardano wallet with my same Ledger, whether on Yoroi or Exodus perhaps?
    Thanks in advance!

You can create a second wallet with your ledger and create it as a shelley wallet. Then you will send the funds from your bryon wallet to the shelley one and you will be able to stake then. Any questions on it let me know

If your stack is under 300 then you will need to stake for a few months to make it worth while. Basically any pool should average out with rewards to 5% – 5.5% over the year. That is what I would expect my own pool to hit too

Thanks Phillip, Wit Cardano staking you dont need to put in an amount as when you delegate it stakes the full wallet. This means that anything new added is auto staked including rewards and as there is no lock with Cardano you can still move funds in and out of the wallet at any time. The first rewards from staking take 15 – 20 days and after that it is every 5 days. If you have been staking more than 20 days and the pool you picked is producing blocks you should be getting rewards

Hey Shaz, No you dont need to wait a year you will get rewards every 5 days (15-20 for the first and every 5 after that). The rewards you earn will add up to about 5% – 5.5% over the year, potentially slightly more with compounding if you leave your rewards in. Hi Paul. New to staking and had my ADA staked in early June using Yoroi, with the help of a friend passing through my town who lives 700k away in Sydney, Australia. Since then have purchased extra ADA through Coinspot and would like to transfer to existing pool. The problem is I am 73, not tech savvy and live in a small country town in Australia. I know of no one locally who I could get to help. My concern is stuffing up and losing on transferring. I don’t wish to be a nuisance, but would appreciate a SIMPLE explanation of how to go about the procedure. One other question. At what level does a pool become saturated and when it does, do I then transfer from my existing pool into the next one you create? By the way, have had 4 lots of rewards so far and couldn’t be happier with how you are looking after mine and the other pool participants investment.

Thanks for being a part of the pool John, I appreciate that. A pool becomes saturated at 64M, currently my pools are well below that anyway.

To send more ADA to your wallet you open Daedalus or Yoroi and under the receive tab you will get a list of addresses, you can use any of them as they are all connected to your wallet. Copy one of them and in your coinspot wallet that is the address you use to withdraw to. I show how to withdraw in this video from kraken, coinspot should be similar – https://youtu.be/pPEX3Nk7PWY?t=1073

      Any problems let me know

Hi Paul, i switched my ADA from my regular Yoroi account to a ledger account while i was staking, which took me out of my pool and now I’m unable to choose a pool to join and it gives me this message : Something unexpected happened. Please retry. did i create a glitch or something? I’d like to join one of your pools;)

    • Paul

Sorry I just seen this. That can happen with Yoroi if you dont have the latest ADA software on your ledger so just double check in ledger live that your ledger is on the latest firmware and your ADA app is up to date

Hey Paul. I’ve been stacking my ADA in Atomic Wallet which offers staking. Do I need to be in Daedalus or Yoroi to have flexibility and how important is what flexibility should you specify?
Also, I have stayed in Atomic Wallet partly for fear that if I were to try to move it, I would somehow manage to lose it. Thanks in advance should you reply.

Hey Palo, I personally use Daedalus and Yoroi which also allow you to hold Cardano native assets and get involved in voting which are the main advantages of staking through one of the official wallets. I have heard of some having issues with rewards on Atomic but I dont personally use it so I’m not sure what caused it for some

        Hi Paul.

I have been staking in your pool now for some 2 months and am penning a note to say that whilst I have increased my stake considerably over that time, the rewards are slowly diminishing to become a concern for me. The 4.5 to 5.5% considered to be standard is now running between 3-4% of late and with a stake of nearly 1.3m, the shortfall represents a considerable amount of money to me. Rather than re-stake, I ask for a reason as to why the returns are so low before I consider taking that step.

Hey John, thanks for staking in the pool I really appreciate that. In general the Cardano staking rewards come down slightly every epoch due to the way the protocol works as it is pulling from the same pot every epoch which gets smaller every time so the apy now for 100% luck is slightly under 5%. In time this will stabalise as transaction fees make up a part of the rewards too and transaction volumes are starting to rise.

Pool 2 PAUL has had a very unlucky run over the last few weeks and unfortunetly this is purely down to luck in how the protocol assigns blocks as we are running the pool exactly as we did when it was hitting well above average before this run. Generally these things average out and I would expect the rewards to get better and a good run of luck soon. The last epoch which will be paid out in 4 days finished at 4.6% so better but I want to see it higher. In contrast pool 1 which is run exactly the same has been on a great run lately with well over 100% luck in most epochs. Reach out here or on paul@cardanowithpaul.com any time. Thanks

Hi Paul, i was just wondering, which pool is better in terms of profits and long term return, 1 or 2? I know you talked about the saturation in your video and that it affects the reward, but does that mean it is always better to join the lower saturation (in this case Paul 2)?

    Reply
    • Paul

Currently both are still good. Pool2 PAUL is currently the lowest saturation so for the long term you could join it

Hi Paul thanks for the great content. Not sure if you have answered this already I could not see it…After staking if I decided I wanted to sell my ADA can that be done quickly or does it take a couple of days? I know when staking it doesn’t lock it in but wasn’t sure how quickly you could exit and sell.

    Reply
    • Paul

Hey Scott, No there is no lock so you are free to move your coins at any time so if you decide to sell you can send to an exchange at any time and sell straight away to USD / EUR. You then withdraw that to your bank and depending on the exchange would be in your bank the next day

    Hey Paul,

I’m new to the Cardano community, but I had purchased 103.xxxxx shares of ADA using Bittrex mobile.. I had watched some videos of how to and where to stake it.. but when I went to transfer my ADA to my Daedalus wallet Bittrex did not allow my transfer stating that I needed to have a minimum of 300.00 USD in my account.. (like I had mentioned before I am new to the market) but to me this seems wrong.. I feel like Bittrex is withholding my ADA for me to deposit more money..

In light of all this I am planning on using coin base for my future purchases of ADA..

Can you help me with this issue or put light on my situation maybe others have had..

    Thank you

    Cody.

Hey Cody, I dont use Bittrex so not sure on their limits but that $300 level sounds very high. I would say contact their support to get clarification. If it is $300 you dont have many options unfortunately apart from sell for another coin you can withdraw or hold and hopefully it it worth over 300 in the next weeks. Ya coinbase will work and Kraken is another good option

When I hover my mouse over the first one, its says ‘currently earning rewards’ but there is no undelegate button, only a redelegate button. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Daedalus currently doesn’t have an undelegated feature but with Cardano you dont have to undelegated to move your funds you can move them at any time

    Hi Paul,
I have found your videos and articles useful. Thank you for producing them. I have decided to delegate my ADAs into your pool. Just a comment is that it took a long time for me to download Daedalus. After the download, it takes a very long time to connect to the node and to sync. However, at certain times, I could connect to the node and sync. Is there a reason for this?

Thanks Paul. Yes Daedalus is a full node wallet so every time you connect it downloads the latest transactions that happened on the network. Are you using a hardware wallet or just Daedalus directly?

Hi Paul, I just wanted to reach out after reading and viewing your content. A massive thank you for all you are doing for the ADA community. Regarding Sundaeswap rewards, are these likely to appear as a new asset balance within Yoroi? For example, will my dashboard start to display a new Sundaeswap balance after each epoch or will there be an additional process to claim and withdraw these should I wish to (once the ISO has concluded)? Also, for those currently delegating to your pools and receiving ADA rewards (PAUL & PAUL1), is there any additional preparation for the ISO launch or will Sundaeswap rewards automatically be deposited as well once the ISO is live? Many thanks and all the best.

Thanks Bissel, yes the only requirement is to be delegating to one of my pools. The tokens wont automatically appear in your wallet as there will be a process to claim them which I will create a tutorial on once the process is available

Paul can you expand on the following line: Fees: Minimum fixed fee (340 ADA) + 3% Are you saying you need 340 ADA to Stake or you saying if we take you will take 340 ADA for the pleasure of staking? Or something totally different. I am looking to get in on the SundaeSwap ISO. I voted for you to be a scooper and was going to stake in advance of the ISO launch.

    Reply
    • Paul

Thanks for the vote and sorry for the late reply. With the 340 that is the minimum allowed by the network and is taken from the total rewards earned by the pool, the 3% is also taken from that and then the balance is split between all delegators. These fees are never taken from your staked ADA

    Morning Paul.

I am a delagator to the Paul 2 pool and have a query regarding ADA rewards over the Sundae Swap ISO period of 5 Epochs.

I note that your pools have reached saturation point with the influx of delegators seeking the Sundae Swap rewards.

My understanding is that once saturation point has been reached in a pool, the ADA rewards significantly reduce. Unless this situation was anticipated by the powers to be, wouldn’t it be counter productive to have this reduction of ADA rewards for some Sundae Sway rewards instead?

Can you inform the delegators in your pools as to above situation.

    John (Australia)

    Reply
    • Paul

Hey John, thanks for being a delegator. Pool 2 is currently at 99.9% full so at this level it has no impact on rewards. Once it goes over that it would start to have an impact but a very miner effect if its only just over. Basically the pool still gets the rewards for 68M ADA but has to split over whatever is in the pool. eg if the pool went to 70M people in the pool would earn 2.8% less ADA rewards. If its a lucky epoch in terms of block assignment then there mightn’t even be a hit on rewards but you dont want to see a pool over saturated for long. I am telling all new people to go elsewhere and in 4 weeks when the Sundae ISO is over I expect lots of people will probably go back to their original pools as well. I’m keeping a close eye on it.
